Inger Jirby: My Land of Enchantment
November 22, free, 5–7 pm
Acosta Strong Fine Art, 640 Canyon
Show continues through December 1, johnbstrong.com
Inger Jirby was born in the far north of Sweden, a place of stunning color in the fall. The same blazing palette that fills her earliest memories found its way into her fauvist and abstract expressionist paintings. She began painting as a child, finding inspiration in Van Gogh, Matisse, and Bonnard. Later influences include Picasso, Braque, Andre Derain, and Milton Avery.
